Spain – Mallorca 2019

As a German you will think about beach parties, awful “Schlager” music and beer, when someone says they went to Mallorca for vacation. Due to this, I have never been to Mallorca until 2019.

It turned out quite a difference experience than expected. We skipped the main beach at Palma and rented a card to make a trip around the island for a couple of days instead. Mallorcas nature and well preserved (or restored) old buildings made the trip surprisingly great.

Caló del Moro

The probably most memorised view I have from Mallorca. The road is only for people which are not scared of some climbing and a long hike. In the end the hard work is rewarded with a faboulus view and a even better swimming and snorkeling spot. Next to a lot of fish I spotted an octopus and a huge moray eel.

Banyalbufar

Nothing for weak nerved drivers. Curvy roads through the mountains, nerve wrecking parking possibilities and faboulus views on the coastline in the evening and morning made it worth the trip.

Countryside

The countryside varied from rocky deserts in the south, over green fields in the midlands to even greener mountains and high coastlines in the north.

Pont natural d'Es Caló Blanc

With a hike and some climbing through the rocky coastline we paid this natural rock bridge a visit.

Botanicactus

The botanical – cacti focused – garden in the south of Mallorca might be considered rather boring, but was a very nice stroll for 2-3 hours in the morning. I was impressed by the size of the cacti which I have never seen before in my life in these measures.

Bùrger

A small village in the north/east in the countryside of Mallorca with great view on the sundown in the mountains and a cozy street with small local restaurants.

Alcúdia

A town in the north/east of Mallorca with a lot of centuries-old buildings and resored medieval walls. The walls encircle the well-preserved old town with small roads between local shop and restaurants.

Mountains

I highly recommend taking the mountain roads along the northern coast. You will be rewarded with fantastic views over the sea and the mountains.

Valdemossa

A village in the mountains in the north of Mallorca, which was a great visit due to the very old city with narrow streets and the royal charterhouse which was built at the beginning of the 14th century
